Sound Slide: Unsung Heroes

Image
Title: "The Unsung Heroes of Male' - Women Who Keep Our City Clean" Groupwork Done by: Ahmed Rilwan / Mariyam Mohamed A short brief on our story idea:  In this sound slide, we wanted to celebrate the women who quietly keep Malé moving, the ones who sweep our streets, clean our roads, and work long before most of us even wake up. These women may not stand in the spotlight, but their dedication shapes the heartbeat of our capital every single day. They face the heat, the rain, the noise, and the rush of the city, yet they show up with strength, dignity, and resilience. Because of them, our roads are cleaner, our mornings brighter, and our community safer. We often walk past them without realizing the weight of the work they do. But today, let’s call them what they truly are "Unsung Heroes". To every woman keeping Malé clean and beautiful: thank you. You deserve recognition, respect, and endless appreciation.

Click, Scroll, explore: The Future of Storytelling Is Interactive

Image
Nowadays audiences want to participate in stories rather than just read or watch them in the digital realm. With the advent of interactive storytelling journalism has become dynamic participatory experience where readers can explore, respond and occasionally even influence the plot. Interactive tales create dynamic, visually striking and intensely personal storytelling by fusing technology, creativity and journalism. What is interactive story? An interactive story is a type of journalism in which people actively participate in the information rather than passively consuming it. according to multimedia expert Andrew DeVigal, former multimedia editor at New York times, interactive story is defined not only using films, maps or graphics but also by how it generates and experience. It is designed to allow users to explore the story at their own leisure and choose their own path through it. Unlike traditional liner storytelling, interactive stories are non-linear which means the listener ch...

Freedom or Control: The Media Bill’s Hight Stakes

Image
The Maldives is facing crossroads in media freedom.   The people’s majilis is now considering the media and broadcasting regulation bill, which is being presented as an essential step toward modernizing media oversight. Though it could end up being one of the most damaging blows to press freedom in our fledging democracy. Presented in august 2025 by MP Abdul Hannan Aboobakuru, the legislation suggests combining the Maldives broadcasting commission and the Maldives media council into one entity. It seems reasonable to combine Broadcom and MMC into single organization. Theoretically streamlining institutions could increase supervision and efficiency. The issue though is with the exceptional powers the measure gives the ne...
